(Apple) Pi Day!

NERD ALERT!

So being the absolute geeks the pair of us are, we felt it necessary to celebrate a day dedicated to a mathematical constant.

Yeah, we’re cool like that.

It’s Pi Day!

Please withhold your excitement.

According to the US date format, today -March 14th- marks the annual celebration of π. 3rd month of the year. 14th day of the month. π = 3.14. You get it.

Naturally we decided to bake a ‘pi’. Aren’t we just hilarious?

The Wren

Last Saturday the pair of us moseyed into central London for the opening of our friend Liv’s brand new coffee shop, The Wren.

We’d been seeing all these wonderful updates and photos on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter so we were very eager to get down there!

Unlike your conventional London coffee shop, The Wren is situated in… a church.

Issy goes to London!

Ok so this isn’t my first time in London. I mean, with Ang being here it’s practically my second home!

However, this is my first proper visit since we started the blog so I felt it was necessary to document my travels (no matter how brief!).

We started our Saturday like any other foodie should… with a spot of baking. Blog post coming soon! In the meantime, here’s a sneaky close up :P.

We then made our way to central London, making the most of the beautifully sunny day and taking heaps of pictures along the way.

Our first stop was to the opening of our friend Liv’s brand new coffee shop, The Wren. Amazing drinks, delicious cakes, relaxed atmosphere… and it’s in a church! A must visit! Find out more here.

Buzzed from coffee, we then made our way to the Barbican Centre, not before stopping at a pub on the way for some nibbles… well, chicken wings.

At the Barbican we queued for around half an hour for the art installation, ‘Momentum‘ – developed by the United Visual Artists.

This carefully choreographed sequence of light, sound and movement is located in the Curve, and consists of 12 pendulums that activate light and sound as they swing in the pitch black room.

Essentially the installation was created to confuse the audiences sense of time, movement, mass and space. We spent a good while in there soaking in the mind warping feel of it all before feeling suitably cultured and heading off for food.

We made our way towards Covent Garden with nothing but Shake Shack in mind.

Bacon cheeseburgers (SmokeShack burger) and cheese fries. Nom. We’re definitely in need of going back to try the Concretes!

This time, however, we rolled into Venchi (which is two steps away) to have a dessert in the form of gelato.

Salted Caramel, and Pistachio and a water-based Daaaaaark Chocolate. Sinful!

Our last stop of the day was to Carnaby Street to see the lights.
